There's something magical about Paris — but seeing it through your children's eyes? That's something else entirely.

We arrived early on a Tuesday morning, bleary-eyed but buzzing. The plan was simple: no rigid itinerary, just wander and see where the city took us. Our first stop was Les Invalides, partly because the kids wanted to see where Napoleon was buried, partly because we needed coffee and the cafés nearby looked promising.

Turns out, standing in front of that golden dome at sunrise hits different when your youngest asks if "the emperor guy" can see the clouds from up there.

The Unexpected Moments

Paris has a way of surprising you. We stumbled into a tiny boulangerie near Rue Cler where the owner spoke no English and our French was atrocious, but somehow we left with the best croissants of our lives and an impromptu lesson in how to say "butter is life" in French.

The kids made friends with a local cat at a park bench. We sat there for an hour, watching the world go by, eating sandwiches we didn't plan to buy, talking about nothing and everything.

The Verdict

Would we do it again? In a heartbeat. Paris with kids isn't about checking boxes — it's about slowing down enough to notice the boxes don't matter.

Next stop: who knows? But we'll be ready.
